A Bit About Your Doctor

Dr Aqeel Farooque is a UK-trained Consultant Pediatric Endocrinologist with a special interest in childhood diabetes and hormone-related conditions. He is known for his calm, practical approach and for helping families feel informed, supported, and reassured throughout their child’s care.

Dr Aqeel Farooque currently practices at Medcare Hospitals – Sharjah, where he sees children and adolescents with a wide range of endocrine and diabetes-related conditions.

He previously served as Head of the Pediatric Diabetes & Endocrinology Unit at Al Qassimi Women’s & Children’s Hospital, Sharjah, a tertiary referral centre caring for children with complex endocrine conditions across the Northern Emirates.

In addition to his clinical work, he holds the position of Assistant Professor at the College of Medicine, University of Sharjah, where he contributes as faculty to the MSc in Diabetes Management programme.

His Journey in Medicine

Dr Farooque completed his MBBS degree in India and moved soon afterwards to the United Kingdom to pursue postgraduate training in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology. He completed his specialist training in the West Midlands, developing a strong foundation in pediatric endocrine care.

He later worked as a Consultant Pediatric Endocrinologist in the UK, with consultant roles in Birmingham and Plymouth, before relocating to the UAE in 2017.

He is actively involved with national and international professional societies, including DPEC, EPEC, ASPED, BSPED, and ESPE.

Dr Farooque speaks English, Arabic, and Urdu.
